Preceptor Training

The University of Toledo College of Pharmacy utilizes a preceptor training program which can be found at www.extendedknowledge.com. Continuing education credit (2 contact hours/0.2 CEUs) is awarded after the course is completed.  There are 3 training modules that contain many useful tips, tools, information and planning guides to improve the learning process including:

  • Learning Style
  • Preparation List
  • Practice Environment Activities
  • “Nuts and Bolts” of preparing for the student
  • Article Topics
  • Preceptor Post Test

The module is interactive and requires submission of reflections and other assignments to the course director before moving on to the subsequent module.  The course is meant to help prepare preceptors for student visits as well as give ideas of how each preceptor’s specific teaching style will best aid students throughout their rotations at each site.
