About Pharmacy Camp
Pharmacy camp is a three-night, four-day camp that takes place at The University of Toledo each summer. The camp is open to high school students in the Class of 2015 who demonstrate strong academic skills and an interest in pharmacy or the pharmaceutical sciences. Pharmacy Summer Camp is sponsored by Walgreens and supported by Rite Aid.
Camp Activities and Fees
We have so much to show you about this exciting profession! Because it is summer, we know campers expect hands-on, interactive activities. Camp activities include job shadowing, chemistry and pharmacy labs, faculty presentations, student and career panels, and small group discussions. Campers spend free time at the UT Rec Center, hang out with camp counselors who are current UT Pharmacy students, and compete in a campus scavenger hunt. See the Schedule of Events link for more details.
There is a $400 fee for the camp, which includes all room and meal expenses, a workbook, and all scheduled camp activities. Students will stay in a campus residence hall with camp counselors (one counselor for every 8 students). Participants are responsible for transportation to and from The University of Toledo.
Because of generous camp sponsorship by Walgreens, need-based financial assistance is often available for students meeting federal free- or reduced-school lunch requirements or ACT/SAT fee waiver requirements, or with a letter from a school counselor attesting to financial need.
Students are asked to apply for a waiver of the camp fee by mailing a copy of the letter granting free- or reduced-school lunch or test fee waivers, or by providing a letter from a school counselor, by the application deadline.
Message from the Dean
Pharmacy Summer Camp is proud to partner with Walgreens, with support from Rite Aid, to offer high school students this unique opportunity to explore careers in pharmacy. Our outstanding current students, faculty, staff and alumni all participate in camp activities to promote the benefits of an education in pharmacy and the pharmaceutical sciences.
Professionals in pharmacy and the pharmaceutical sciences are in high demand, and UT offers unique programs that will prepare students for the future of pharmacy. We welcome you to explore the possibilities available through pharmacy education at The University of Toledo College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Go Rockets!
