KEN ALFRED
Executive Director of the Ohio Fuel Cell Coalition

Ken Alfred has been Executive Director of the Ohio Fuel Cell Coalition since its formation in 2003.  In this capacity, he is responsible for directing the programs and activities of this growing membership organization with industry, academic, and government partners that aims to develop a robust and leading fuel cell industry in this state.  

Ken has a wide range of experience from almost 20 years to the energy industry in a variety of marketing, business development, strategic planning and regulatory/advocacy roles while working for British Petroleum, primarily in the oil industry's refining and marketing sectors.  Immediately prior to joining the OFCC, Alfred worked in the new venture development world as a consultant.

A Los Angeles native but long time Cleveland resident, Alfred possesses a bachelor's degree in Economics from UCLA and an MBA in Finance and Business Economics/Public Policy from the University of Michigan. 

GLEN A. GINESI
President

Glen graduated from General Motors Institute in 1977.  In 1978, he became Vice President of Wilkes & Company, a mechanical contracting company located in Huron, Ohio.  In 1987, Glen was promoted to become president of Wilkes & Company, a position he still holds today. In 1994, Glen helped create and became the managing partner of the design and build firm Engineered Process Cooling Systems, LTD. and currently holds that position as well.  

EPCS specialized in design and construction of mechanical systems with a concentration in process cooling systems for the polymer industry in northern Ohio. In 1991, EPCS changed its name to Engineered Process Systems, LTD and expanded the scope of its services to include electrical and mechanical systems and energy consulting.  The EPS, LTD web site, www.bestuseofenergy.com best describes the company's current mission of assisting clients find their best use of energy through efficient, effective and alternative energy systems. 

As a leader in the alternative energy field, EPS, LTD represents three wind manufacturers in the community or consumer wind turbine market. In the past year, Glen and other EPS representatives have consulted with officials from the State of Ohio and local government agencies regarding the future of wind energy, grant funding for wind energy and zoning issues affecting wind energy installations.         

In addition to 30 years of experience in the mechanical construction industry, Glen has held various industry related positions including president of the Mechanical Contractors Association of North Central Ohio, and trustee for the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 42 Health and Welfare Committee. He holds state licenses in plumbing, hydronics and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC). Glen has also served as president of the Huron, Ohio Chamber of Commerce and as a Councilman and Mayor of the City of Huron.  Glen and his wife Carol currently live in Huron. They have two grown children, Nathan, age 26 and Schaun, age 21.

JANE A. HARF
Director University Clean Energy Alliance of Ohio

Jane Harf began her tenure as Director of the University Clean Energy Alliance of Ohio in July 2008.  Previously, she worked on a wide array of energy issues at American Electric Power.  In her most recent role, she directed the governmental, environmental and community affairs programs as Vice President for External Affairs at AEP Ohio.

Prior to joining AEP, Harf served in the administration of Governor George V. Voinovich, initially as Deputy Director for Policy and Legislation at Ohio EPA and later as Deputy Director for Low Level Radioactive Waste. She subsequently became the first executive director of the Ohio Low Level Radioactive Waste Facility Development Authority – a new state agency charged with developing a regional disposal facility for the six-state Midwest Interstate Low Level Radioactive Waste Compact. 

Harf’s expertise in environmental issues was developed during her tenure as State Government Liaison for the Ohio Chapter of the Sierra Club.  Her professional experience began in academia as an instructor of political science at Denison University in Granville, Ohio, where she has made her home ever since. 

Preparation for her career came in the form of a Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana University and a Master’s Degree in political science from the Ohio State University, with an emphasis on American government and politics.

Harf’s community service has followed many of the same paths as her vocational choices. She is currently in her second term as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Franklin Park Conservatory.  Last year, Governor Ted Strickland appointed her to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Waterways Safety Council and she was recently elected Vice Chair of the Council.  Her charitable affiliations include the Humane Society of the United States, the Audubon Society, and Habitat for Humanity.  She is a charter member of Director’s Council of Friends of the National Museum of the American Indian, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution.

ANTHONY HOWARD
Manager, Business & University Partnerships Group Technology and Innovation Division, Ohio Department of Development.

Anthony Howard is Manager of the Business & University Partnerships Group (BUP) of the Ohio Department of Development.  In his capacity as manager of the BUP Group, Mr. Howard has responsibility for a number of the Ohio Third Frontier (OTF) Programs to include: the Wright Mega-center of Innovation, the Wright Centers of Innovation, the Ohio Research Scholars Program, the Research Commercialization Program and the Wright Projects Program.  Through its OTF programs, the BUP Group endeavors to 1) support applied research and development operations that have the demonstrated near-term potential for creating new products and jobs in Ohio; 2) fund research infrastructure, capacity building, and talent attraction efforts with direct relevance to the technological needs of Ohio industry; 3) build sustainable partnerships between Ohio organizations that can develop and commercialize new products; and 4) advance the commercialization of generated products. Mr. Howard has been with the Ohio Third Frontier since its inception in 2002. Prior to his work with the OTF, Mr. Howard was a Senior Program Officer with the Ohio State University Research Foundation and a Research Associate at the University of Tennessee Institute of Technology Management.

CHRISTINA PANOSKA
Energy Policy and Outreach Manager in the Ohio Energy Office for the Ohio Department of Development

Christina Panoska serves as the Energy Policy and Outreach Manager in the Ohio Energy Office for the Ohio Department of Development. Christina directs outreach, communications and marketing activities that promote the use and production of energy efficiency and advanced energy technologies, services and practices.

Previously, Christina conducted research projects and handled marketing for the Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP), which is a public interest organization that promotes energy efficiency policies and practices in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. Prior to joining SWEEP, Christina served as Program Manager for Green Energy Ohio (GEO), a statewide non-profit organization that promotes renewable energy across the Ohio. During her tenure, Christina cultivated the organization into a statewide entity by improving and expanding the educational programs, tripling membership and managing a 200% growth in budget and operations. 

In Spring 2002, she became a John Glenn Fellow of the John Glenn Institute for Public Service and Public Policy in Washington DC, where she had the opportunity to work on energy and climate change legislation. Christina holds a B.S. in Natural Resources and Environmental Economics from the Ohio State University.

NORMAN STEVENS
Co-Director, PVIC

Norman Stevens was recently hired as co-director of the Wright Center for PVIC at the University of Toledo to coordinate the grant project and raise the matching funds.  He has 30 years of experience in alternative energy, environmental licensing and power-plant site work for the utility companies, including DTE Energy in Detroit.

Stevens served eight years on the board of directors for the Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association based outside Lansing, Michigan, and on six committees of the Michigan Renewable Energy Program Collaborating.

Stevens’ education and training include a BSE in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, a MBA in Management from Wayne State University, as well as Post Graduate Studies in Engineering Economics and Law at the University of Michigan.

THOMAS A. WILLIAMS, JR.
Managing Director, North Coast Wind & Power, LL

Tom Williams is a Managing Director of North Coast Wind & Power, LLC with offices in Port Clinton and Perrysburg, Ohio a company he helped form three years ago to promote alternative energy development in the Great Lakes Region.  NCWP is currently involved in the development of several utility grade wind projects and numerous small to midsized community and industrial energy projects.  His primary expertise is in project finance, project management and regulatory affairs. 

The early part of his career, from 1985 to 1993 was spent almost exclusively in the field of urban redevelopment and brownfield recovery.  In 1992 he and his wife Serena moved with his young family to Perrysburg, Ohio with the single purpose of raising their children in America’s heartland.  From 1992 to the founding of North Coast, Mr. Williams was involved primarily in corporate finance, investment banking, and general business consulting which included development of finance and business strategy for several green technology companies.

He was graduated from Yale in 1985 where he received a BA in Political Science and has received a variety of post graduate training in technical disciplines.  He was formerly an NASD licensed General Securities Principal and retired his license without blemish in 2002 upon leaving the investment banking field.   He is active in numerous industry and policy forums.  He is passionate about the need for the United States to invest in renewable power generation.
