Workshop 7: Education and Workforce Development
A number of PFI projects have a significant focus on workforce education and training in the areas of science, technology, engineering, & math (STEM). Education is an essential counterpart of the growth, attraction, and creation of technology-based businesses in an area. This session will highlight the impact of PFI partnerships as they relate to curriculum development, STEM education, and education contributing to knowledge of the entrepreneurial enterprise and the career paths of students. 1. How can business stimulate the development of STEM workforce education and training initiatives? 2. What are the challenges associated with connecting STEM workforce education and training initiatives with companies and their employees? 3. What role should state government / business play in supporting / sustaining workforce education and training initiatives? 4. Where is the balance between education for existing high-technology companies and markets and future markets and workforce opportunities? 5. Are there creative ways in which STEM education and entrepreneurial enterprise knowledge can be woven together into a single education initiative? |
