About Well Read: A Hospital Book Cart Project at UTMC

The Well Read program is a hospital book cart program aimed to improve the inpatient experience at The University of Toledo Medical Center by encouraging reading and improving literacy. The project also aims to provide some exposure to clinical care and provide students an early opportunity to incorporate a sense of humanism into the patient care they will practice for the rest of their lives.
The project was started by Kiran Kilaru, '12 (expected) and the other members of a committee of the Gold Humanism Honor Society, University of Toledo chapter in 2011.
How can I contribute?
We are looking for novels, nonfiction, crosswords, etc. You can contact us to arrange a donation. There are also four book donation receptacles on the Health Science campus:
- Mulford Library first floor lobby
- HEB between rooms 100/110
- Collier Building first floor by elevators
- Wolfe Hall Pharmacy Building by the Dean's Office
Participate in Book Rounds and gain valuable clinical experience interacting with patients or in the project administration in order to help this project continue.
