Residency Application Process: MS-4 Timeline
Note: The timeline for the 2013 Residency Application Process will be posted soon.
Summary of Important Dates
- July 1
DEADLINE to e-mail CV and biographical sketch to Dr. Metting or Nicole Cousino
MyERAS website opens to residency applicants
- August 15
NRMP website (aamc.org/nrmp) is open at 12:00 noon EST for student registration for participation in the National
Resident Matching Program (registration cost is $50.00).
- September 1
First day ERAS programs are able to download residency applications.
Programs at this time will only require your CAF, Personal Statement and your Board
Scores.
Transcripts, LOR and photo can be submitted any time after the September 1st opening.
Registrar’s ERAS transcript release must be signed and sent to Nicole Cousino before
this date
- First week of January
ALL rank order lists for Urology must be submitted to the AUA Residency Matching Program
ALL rank order lists for Ophthalmology and Child Neurology must submitted to SF Match
- Mid January
Applicants and programs may start entering NRMP rank order lists at 12:00 noon EST
- 3rd Week of March is Match Week
Exact date determined by NRMP - check this site for updates
Tuesday and Wednesday of Match Week are Scramble Days
- May
Must have USMLE Step 2 CK and Step 2 CS passing scores posted in Registrar’s Office
in order to graduate

- July Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and National Residency Matching
Program
- Registration Workshop. Date & Times to be announced
- Prepare Early Match Applications (Ophthalmology & Military)
- Finalize personal statement, curriculum vitae and biographical sketch
- Begin to request letters of recommendation – may require personal statement, CV, and
an appointment with letter writer
- Register for USMLE Step 2 CK and CS (www.nbme.org/programs)
- Schedule re-takes of failed subject exams one month prior to the test date

- Continue working on ERAS application

Request student copy of transcript from Registrar’s Office. AFTER you verify the
accuracy of grades, sign the Registrar’s release to send an ERAS transcript to Nicole Cousino in the
Office of Student Affairs by September 1. You can send an updated copy later.
- Follow up and continue to request letters of recommendation
- Start looking for e-mail from Dr. Metting or Nicole to review your MSPE assuming you
have submitted your CV and biographical sketch.
- August 31: Deadline to register to take USMLE Step 2 CK by December 30 (www.nbme.org/programs)
- Last month to register before January closing - check NBME Website for more details.
- Schedule re-takes of failed subject exams one month prior to the test date
