A roommate is almost like a spouse. You live together, you experience each other's moods, good times and bad, for better or for worse, etc. Therefore, invest some time in making sure you and your roomie are compatible. Our office has a roommate agreement which suggests some areas to discuss before you take the plunge-arrive at an agreement in writing about each person's financial obligations (when they are due and how much and for how long), study time, who pays for food and beverage consumed by guests, etc.
Choose wisely and carefully. Arrange a meeting time in a public place such as the Student Union. A good topic of discussion would be the points of the roommate agreement. Communication, cooperation, and compromise and the three key words. If you perceive the lack of any of the above, maybe your search should continue.
