Living
NEW FOR 2013-2014: The Global Exchange Living Learning Community is located on the 4th floor in International House. Residents living in the Horton International House
are not required to have a meal plan and have access to a fully equipped kitchen.
Horton International House is a suite-style living facility with an international focus and houses 400 students. Suites are either 4-person, with two double bedrooms, or 6-person with two double bedrooms and two single bedrooms. Each suite includes a furnished living room and private bathroom. The facility houses a ritual washroom and a community kitchen with dining area. View a Room Layout.
Learning
As a member of the Global Exchange Living Learning Community your academic journey
will be enhanced through the development of global competence, cultural exchange and
self awareness. Students will participate in a one credit hour course comprised of
various cultural outings, discussions of currently worldly events and interactive
dialog.
The GELLC is designed for both international and domestic students. This living learning community is ideal for domestic students interested in studying abroad, traveling and learning more about world cultures. International students will benefit as they live with a domestic student and learn more about the American culture, easing their transition to life at UT. This community encourages intercultural understanding by attempting to place students in rooms with students from other countries.
Community
Global Exchange Living Learning Community members choose to live in a community rooted
in cultural diversity. Members will have the opportunity to cross cultural divides
and develop meaningful and lasting relationships. International and domestic students
will live together and share their college experience. The Global Exchange Living
Learning Community allows members to be integrated into the campus community and offers
students new friendships, exciting outings, academic and social support.
This LLC requires a $75.00 programming fee per semester.
