Dr. Kaye Patten Wallace
Senior Vice President for Student Affairs

In her role as Senior Vice President for Student Affairs at The University of Toledo, Dr. Patten Wallace provides leadership for creating an environment and system of support that is conducive to students achieving their educational goals. The offices and departments that make up the Division of Student Affairs include: Office of the Dean of Students, Office of Residence Life, the University Counseling Center, Office of Multicultural Student Success, Office of Recreation, Office of Student Conduct, Office of Student Involvement and Auxiliary Services- parking and dining services, Rocket Card and Rocket Wireless. Dr. Patten Wallace works with students, faculty, staff and administrators to help ensure student success and to fulfill the university's mission for a student-centered environment.

As Senior Business Manager for the Division of Student Affairs, Kathy is responsible for fiscal and human resources management for all units within the division. She holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The University of Toledo. In her spare time, you will find Kathy in either Savage Arena or the Glass Bowl (depending on season) rooting for the Rockets. Go Midnight Blue!
Dr. Stanley Edwards
University Counseling Center

As Director of the University Counseling center, Dr. Edwards is responsible for the leadership, supervision and management of the UT Counseling Center. He works collaboratively with other departments within the University while providing counseling, crisis intervention, consultation and outreach programs and prevention strategies for students.
Office of Student Conduct

As the Interim Student Conduct Officer, Mary oversees the Student Code of Conduct. Her focus on student rights and responsibilities aides in facilitating a university community that is conducive to learning; both inside and outside of the classroom. She previous held positions with the Office of Residence Life at UT. Mary received both her B.A. and M.S.W. degrees from Michigan State University.
Dean of Students

Tamika serves as the Dean of Students and as head of the Office for the Student Experience, where she investigates student and family concerns, communicates with faculty/staff to resolve concerns, and initiates service recovery. Her focus is on building a culture of student centeredness by being responsive to student’s needs, and utilizing feedback to facilitate improvement and student satisfaction. Tamika received her B.A. and M.A. from Western Kentucky University, and her M.Ed. from the University of Toledo.
Student Affairs Communication

As Director of Communications for Student Affairs, Cynthia works closely with all members of the Student Affairs team to publicize the good work being done for our students. Having taken her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English at UT and having served for many years as editor/chief writer of Toledo Alumni Magazine, plus having taught evening literature classes at UT for even longer, she’s passionate about UT's educational mission — and knows how to make the best use of a semicolon.
Director, Student Rec Center

As Director for the Office of Recreation, Demond is responsible for the leadership, supervision, management, programs, and services of the Department including the Student Recreation Center. He works across the university to help provide engaging, Student-Centered recreational and health promotion programs and services to enhance the well-being of the UT Community. Prior to arriving to UT Demond worked at Central Michigan University for eight years as Director of Facility Operations in the Department of University Recreation, and prior to that he spent three years as Coordinator of Facility Operations for the Department of Campus Recreation at Oakland University. Demond received his Bachelor of Applied Arts in Recreation, Parks and Leisure Services from Central Michigan University (2002) and his Master of Arts in Recreation Administration from Central Michigan University (2007).
Office of Residence Life

Virginia Speight, was promoted to interim director from associate director, brings to the table years of experience in residence life and management. She was an assistant director for the Office of Residence Life and Housing for Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Va., for three years before coming to The University of Toledo. She also held residence life and housing positions at Old Dominion University, Ambling Management Co. and Hampton University. Speight plans to collaborate with key offices that focus on student services to improve overall living for students on campus. She also serves as a member of the vice president’s senior leadership team and crisis intervention response team, and provides representation and direction on various University initiatives. “I am extremely excited and honored to serve as the interim director of Residence Life at UT,” Speight said. “My goal is to continue to work with staff and students in creating residence halls that promote learning outside of the classroom and enhance the student experience. Students are the reason we exist, and providing exemplary customer service is our goal.”
Operations - Dining & Nutrition
As Senior Director of Operations — dining and clinical nutrition — Mario oversees all aspects of food service on both UT campuses. He’s also a longtime motivational speaker and leadership consultant.
Office of EXCEL and Multicultural Student Success

David Young took the helm of the Office of Multicultural Student Services in April 2013 in addition to his duties as Director of the University of Toledo Office of Excellence and TOLEDO EXCEL. In his previous position he oversaw the operations of TRiO Student Support Services, TOLEDO EXCEL, and TRiO Upward Bound. His new position included multicultural programming and retention services for students from multicultural backgrounds at the University of Toledo and created a new office called: The Office of Excellence and Multicultural Student Success (OEMSS). The mission of OEMSS is to create a campus environment for students of various cultures and diverse backgrounds that is conducive to learning by providing programs and services that meet their needs. Through its programs and services, the Office of Excellence and Multicultural Student Success strives to enhance the recruitment and retention efforts of the Division of Student Affairs and explore the indigenous roots of African American, Asian American, Latino American, Native American, and LGBTQA, students. David is a University of Toledo alum who says he “bleeds Midnight Blue and Gold” and has been employed at UT for nearly 25 years. He has won numerous awards for his service to the Greater Toledo community and is an accomplished motivational speaker.
