    Master Adviser Award

    Eligibility       

    University of Toledo professional staff members whose primary duties are academic advising of undergraduate students are eligible for this award.  Past recipients are not eligible for this award.

    Criteria:         

    • expert knowledge of the field of academic advising
    • expert knowledge of University of Toledo academic policies and procedures
    • innovative use of advising methods
    • participation in and support of student progress toward academic, learning, and personal goals through developmental advising
    • demonstrated creative use of resources (human, fiscal, physical)
    • demonstrated commitment to advising throughout the institution
    • recognized by peers for guidance and insight in challenging professional situations
    • perceived as an “authority” within the UT academic advising community

    Award

    The award recipient will receive a $500.00 cash award.  All individuals nominated for the Master Adviser Award will be recognized at the program.

    Submission Procedures:

    1. A completed nomination form signed by the nominator. 
    2. A summary of the nominee’s qualifications by the nominator detailing how the nominee meets award criteria.  This summary may reference data, letters of support, or other materials that demonstrate why the nominee is an exemplary candidate for the Master Adviser Award (e.g. availability to students, student evaluations, ability to engage in and promote developmental advising, participation in and support of adviser development programs).
    3. A personal statement on advising by the nominee not to exceed one page.

    A complete set of nomination materials must be submitted to the Student Success Center, MS 333, Rocket Hall 1400, by Friday, March 28, 2008.   Nomination materials will not be returned and become property of the selection committee.
