    Service Award

    Eligibility

    University of Toledo professional staff members whose primary duties are academic advising of undergraduate students or advising administrators are eligible for this award.  Past recipients are not eligible for this award.

    Criteria:

    The selection committee will evaluate nominations on the evidence of qualities and practices that distinguish the nominee as an outstanding academic adviser.  Such evidence may include:

    1. impact on students
    2. demonstrated leadership in academic advising organizations and committees at the University of Toledo (ICA)
    3. involvement with professional organizations (NACADA or OHAAA) at the regional or national level
    4. availability to students, faculty or staff       
    5. facilitating student progress toward academic, learning and personal goals through developmental advising
    6. responsiveness to the needs of particular student constituencies
    7. provides contributions above and beyond job assignment
    8. volunteerism to further the aims of academic advising and student development

    Award

    The award recipient will receive a $500.00 cash award.  All individuals nominated for the Service Award will be recognized at the program.

    Submission Procedures

    1. A completed nomination form signed by the nominator.
    2. A summary of the nominee’s qualifications by the nominator detailing how the nominee meets award criteria. The summary may reference data, letters of support, or other materials that demonstrate why the nominee is an exemplary candidate for the Service Award (e.g. availability to students, student evaluations, monitoring student progress toward academic and career goals, participation in and support of adviser development programs).
    3. A personal statement on advising by the nominee not to exceed one page.

    A complete set of nomination materials must be submitted to the Student Success Center, MS 333, Rocket Hall 1400, by Friday, March 28, 2008.   Nomination materials will not be returned and become property of the selection committee.
