TOEFL Testing

The University of Toledo offers an On-Campus Institutional TOEFL Test. The test is for International students who plan to attend The University of Toledo, come from a non-English speaking country, and are required to prove their English competency in order to study at an American institution. The TOEFL tests measure the ability of non-native English speakers to use and understand English as it is read, written, heard and spoken in the university classroom.


Types of TOEFL Tests:

  • ITP-TOEFL:
    • ITP-TOEFL at The University of Toledo stands for ‘Institutional Testing Program - Test of English as Foreign Language’ specific to The University of Toledo and is administered at its campus

    • ITP-TOEFL is a paper based test and the scores from ITP TOEFL Do Not transfer to another institution
  • IBT-TOEFL:
    • IBT-TOEFL stands for the ‘Internet Based Test - Test of English as a Foreign Language’ offered by the Educational Testing Services (ETS)

    • You can take IBT-TOEFL test at your choice of conveniently located, ETS-approved test sites around the world. It is the most widely accepted English-language test in the world, including more than 9,000 colleges, universities, agencies and other institutions in 130 countries. And that list includes the University of Toledo along with the top 100 universities in the world.

How to Register for TOEFL Testing

ALL students need to register on-line through the ITP-TOEFL Registration Link

Please note:

  • The ITP-TOEFL Test Fee is $65 (including a processing/convenience fee) and you may pay the fee by a valid credit card or a paypal account

  • The test fee is Non-Refundable, please check your eligibility before you register

  • Registration and Payment are required by the Registration Deadline

  • You may not register for a future ITP TOEFL date. Registration is only for the current test that the registration is open for. Refer to the Table above

  • Your student rocket number is required in order for you to take The University of Toledo ITP-TOEFL

On the Day of Testing

  • Arrive 45 minutes before the Test begins. (You will not be admitted into the testing room after testing has begun)

  • YOU MUST Bring in a valid form of picture ID (Current Passport, State Issued picture ID, Valid Driver's License)

  • Bring in the confirmation email you receive at the time of On-Line registration for ITP-TOEFL

  • Cell phone use is restricted during testing and must be turned off

  • Your test session will be monitored
