Lunch and Learn Workshops
A series of informal 50 to 55 minute workshops developed to help student improve their study skills, familiarize themselves with campus resources, and develop effective social and economic skills. These workshops can be conducted both on-site at the Student Support Services’ office classroom and off-site at the Carlson Library and at student worksites. Both small group and one-to-one workshops are available. These workshops will be put on-line during the Fall of 2003.
The following are the titles of some of the workshops which have been given: Your Personality Type Part 1& 2, Time Management & Avoiding Procrastination, How to Cope and Overcome Failure, Test-Taking Strategies & Overcoming Test Anxiety, Campus Safety, Money Management, Job Search Skills & Resume Writing, How to Listen and Take Good Notes, How to Get the Most Out of Your Textbook, How to Select and Apply to a Graduate or Professional Program, and Acing your Finals.
SD/FYI Class
A three credit hour course designed to help students adjust to The University of Toledo’s Campus Community, develop a better understanding of higher education and the learning process, and refine their academic skills to enhance and reach their full potential. The course incorporates class lectures and discussions, collaborative learning experiences, and outside lab experiences.
This course meets once a week and fulfills The University of Toledo’s FYI Class requirement (with the exception of the Engineering Department).
