Undergraduate International Admission

Freshman Admission Requirements

You are a freshman student if you have never attended a college/university after secondary/high school graduation. Students who have taken post-secondary (college) courses while enrolled in high school are considered first-time freshmen.

College of Arts and Letters

  • 2.5 GPA
Music Performance program
  • Audition required
Psychology program
  • Students will be admitted to pre-psychology until they earn 30 credit hours and a 2.5 GPA

College of Business and Innovation

Bachelor of Business Administration programs
  • 2.8 GPA

Students not meeting these requirements will be admitted into an associate's degree in the College of Business and Innovation. Upon meeting a 2.4 UT college GPA, students are permitted to transfer into the programs of their choice.

Applied Organizational Technology Associate Degree programs
  • 2.0 GPA

College of Engineering

Engineering Science programs
  • 3.0 GPA; and
  • 22 ACT/520 SAT (taken prior to March 2016) or 550 (taken after March 2016) mathematics subscore; and
  • 4 years of high school math (fourth-year emphasis on trigonometry or pre-calculus) and high school chemistry; high school physics is strongly recommended

Students not meeting these requirements will be reviewed for the Engineering Technology programs.

Engineering Technology programs
  • 2.5 GPA; and
  • 20 ACT/480 SAT (taken prior to March 2016) or 510 SAT (taken after March 2016) mathematics subscore
Information Technology program
  • 2.5 GPA; and
  • 20 ACT/480 SAT (taken prior to March 2016) or 510 SAT (taken after March 2016) mathematics subscore

Alternatively, students who do not have an ACT or SAT score can take UToledo's math placement test (ALEKS) for a fee of $20.00 USD. Students must score at least 61 points for Engineering Technology programs or at least 76 for Engineering Science programs. In order to take the ALEKS placement test, go to www.aleks.com, and click here for instructions (Note: you must use the code MHEX9-4NVDP in step 2, and your date of birth in the Student ID field).

College of Health and Human Services

  • 2.7 GPA
Exercise Science
  • 3.0 GPA
  • high school biology and chemistry with grade of C or better
Criminal Justice, Paralegal Studies, and Social Work
  • 2.5 GPA

College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics

  • 2.5 GPA
BS in Biology(Department of Biological Sciences)
  • 2.75 GPA

Students not meeting the BS in Biology minimum GPA requirement but meeting the college requirements will be admitted to the BA in Biology.

College of Nursing

All students admitted into the pre-nursing BSN curriculum with:

  • 2.75 GPA

Upon completion of the pre-nursing curriculum, there is a competitive admission process for the professional sequence.

Starting fall 2020, we will offer guaranteed admission for freshmen into our competitive Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program for select, well-prepared applicants. Applicants with a high school GPA of 3.7 or higher and 24 ACT/1160 SAT will be directly enrolled in our B.S.N. program

College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences

All students admitted into the pre-professional program with:

  • 2.5 GPA

Contingent admission to the Professional Division is available on a competitive basis. To be considered, the following must be completed in the year proceeding fall admission:

  • Achieve and report by December 1, a 29 ACT/1300 SAT and a 3.75 GPA in a college preparatory high school curriculum
  • Application and all required application materials to be submitted (or postmarked) by December 1

Additional materials will be requested. Final notification of contingent admission status will occur in mid-March.
