The College of Business and Innovation’s Information, Operations and Technology Management Department hosted a meet and greet event on January 31, 2020, in Savage Arena on the main campus of The University of Toledo.

Current and potential Information Systems and Operations & Supply Chain Management students were able to network with IOTM professors, industry professionals and fellow students while enjoying a delicious lunch.

Also in attendance were representatives from the COBI chapters of The Association for Operations Management and The Association of Information Technology Professionals. These student organizations have the goal of bringing together supply chain, logistics and operations management students and professionals in the case of UTAPICS, as well as IT students and professionals for AITP. The associations are both very active, hosting monthly or weekly meetings with professional presentations, factory visits and other programs.

With over an estimated 100 visitors in attendance, many saw a great benefit in coming to the event. One student, in particular, had positive reviews of the meet and greet. Tyler Spohn, a Junior majoring in Information Systems and Human Resources, praised the opportunity to network with business professionals, saying “I enjoyed the ability to talk to someone in my desired role within the information systems industry. The gentleman I spoke with had already begun to pave his way in his career, and speaking with him was an opportunity for me to envision where I could potentially end up in my own career.”
