CMPT - 1010 COMPUTER FUNDAMENTALS
[1 hour] Introduction to microcomputers. Topics covered are hardware, software, computer operation, terminology, and applications.


CMPT - 1020 INFORMATION COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY
[4 hours] Concepts and techniques on business applications of computers. Hands on experience in business applications. Programming concepts using COBOL programming language. Corequisite: CMPT 1050


CMPT - 1050 PROGRAMMING LOGIC
[4 hours] Students will build a solid foundation of problem-solving skills and use the basic language to test these skills. Topics will cover pseudocode, algorithms and modularization. Corequisite: CMPT 1020 or CMPT 1100


CMPT - 1100 COMPUTER INFORMATION APPLICATIONS
[3 hours] Concepts and techniques on the application of computers to the solution of business computer information systems. Students will have hands-on experience in word processing, spreadsheet and data base on microcomputers.


CMPT - 1110 MICROSOFT DISK OPERATING SYSTEMS
[1 hour] Microcomputer operating system concepts. Focus will be on current version of MS-DOS. Topics include resident and transient commands, file names, disk organization, DOS shell, DOS editor, output redirection and printing. Prerequisite: CMPT 1100 OR 1020


CMPT - 1120 BUSINESS PROGRAMMING LANGUAGES
[4 hours] Principles of programming logic including problem analysis and charting techniques. Develop computer programs utilizing COBOL programming language. Topics include sequential file access, formula implementation, array processing and report generation. Prerequisite: CMPT 1050,1020


CMPT - 1210 MICROSOFT WINDOWS
[1 hour] Explores the latest version of Microsoft Windows. Topics include : basic skills, working with menus, file management, Windows applications, object linking and embedding, and user customizing. Prerequisite: CMPT 1100 or 1020


CMPT - 1300 WINDOWS 95
[1 hour] Comprehensive coverage of Microsoft Windows 95 operating system including history, concepts, functionality, networking and customization.


CMPT - 1320 INTERNET AND THE WORLD WIDE WEB
[1 hour] Internet topics including history of the Internet, IP addressing, Telnet, Gopher, FTP, WAIS, and World Wide Web. Students will create a personal home page with Hyper Text.


CMPT - 1400 INTRODUCTION TO WEB PAGE DEVELOPMENT
[1 hour] Learn the basics ofplanning, writing and formatting a WEB page. Learn to include graphics, animation and link to other WEB sites and build an E-mail link.


CMPT - 1410 ELECTRONIC SPREADSHEET APPLICATIONS
[2 hours] An analysis of the use of electronic spreadsheets in solving business problems with an emphasis on the design of templates to meet the needs of specific applications. Prerequisite: CMPT 1100 or 1020


CMPT - 1420 DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS APPLICATIONS
[2 hours] An analysis of the use of a DBMS in solving business problems with an emphasis on the entering, updating, manipulating, storing and retrieving of information. Prerequisite: CMPT 1100 or 1020


CMPT - 1500 ADVANCED WEB PAGE DEVELOPMENT
[1 hour] Learn advanced WEB page design using 3D images and animation. Include virtual reality into WEB design and build interactivity and animation into WEB pages. Prerequisite: CMPT 1400


CMPT - 2010 RPG PROGRAMMING
[4 hours] Experience in the operation of current mid-range computer architecture. Fundamental programming experience in the RPG language with emphasis on logic and efficiency. Prerequisite: CMPT 1020


CMPT - 2030 C PROGRAMMING
[4 hours] The student will gain a working knowledge of a general-purpose language (C) that works well on a variety of computers. Writing, running, and debugging database type application programs. Prerequisite: CMPT 1020 or CMPT 1100


CMPT - 2110 ADVANCED RPG PROGRAMMING
[4 hours] A continuation of study in the RPG language with emphasis on structured operations, screen design, and interactive programming. Prerequisite: CMPT 2010


CMPT - 2210 DATABASE DESIGN
[3 hours] Focused study of data structures and database management systems. Topics will include data modeling and data design methodologies. Prerequisite: CMPT 1020 or CMPT 1100


CMPT - 2220 INFORMATION SYSTEMS DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION
[4 hours] Provides CIT majors with an opportunity to work on a project which utilizes the knowledge gained in the other CIT courses. The project will include analysis, design, and implementation of a business application. Prerequisite: CMPT 2210 and 1120 or 2010


CMPT - 2400 MICROCOMPUTER PROJECT
[4 hours] Provides practical experience in applying concepts studied in previous courses to a systems design project. The project consists of student teams performing the analysis, design, software selection, testing and implementation of a microcomputer system for a business. Prerequisite: CMPT 1100, 1410, 2210, 1420; CNET 2200


CMPT - 2990 INDEPENDENT STUDY
[1-4 hours] Students will study a computer-related subject mutually agreed upon between the student and the instructor. The format may include lecture, computer lab, and/or practical experience. Prerequisite: Permission of instructor
