Catharine S. Eberly Center for Women

Changemakers in Action, Leadership & Learning

two folks sitting and talkingCALL is a two-year social change leadership program for undergraduate students to strengthen their leadership and professional skills while actively working to create a more equitable world.

Based in Feminist Theory and the Social Change Model of Leadership, CALL prepares students for their future careers. Students apply their academic coursework to life outside the classroom through internships, leadership development and activism opportunities.

CALL runs on a cohort model for students to build community while engaging in contemporary human rights struggles. Each cohort meets bi-weekly with each other and ECW staff.

Eligibility

CALL is open to Utoledo undergraduate students who have at least two years of coursework remaining in their undergraduate degree. Students interested in joining CALL must complete an application via the Involvement Network and an interview with the Program Manager for Gender Equity Student Initiatives.

CALL Meetings

We will hold bi-weekly meetings from October – April. CALL students must attend a minimum of seven meetings per year.

Service Hours

All CALL students must engage in a minimum of 8 hours of community service per semester. Students are encouraged to link their service to social justice issues they feel strongly about.

The Eberly Center will provide one service opportunity each semester through our Day of Service. Day of Service is open to all students, faculty, staff, and community members and is not specific to CALL.

Experiential Learning Experience

CALL students are encouraged to complete an experiential learning experience. Students are encouraged to link this experience to an internship, practicum, or co-op experience in the field of choice.
