Welcome to the Department of Early Childhood, Physical, and Special Education! Programs housed within this department include undergraduate and graduate licensure programs in early childhood education, physical education, and special education (intervention specialist licenses in early childhood, mild/moderate, moderate/intensive, MR/DD early intervention certificate, and the transition to work endorsement). In addition to initial-level licensure programs, the department supports graduate programs that deepen students' level of understanding in the areas listed above. These programs are available at the masters, education specialist and doctoral level (Ed.D. or Ph.D.)

Faculty members in the department are passionate about their work and strive to support students' learning. Drs. Amy Allen, Sakui Malakpa, Joan Kaderavek, and Ceila Regimbal have all been recognized through the college, the university, or the community for outstanding teaching, research or service.
In addition to being strong teacher educators, faculty members are also active scholars. They regularly publish their work in peer-reviewed journals, present at national and international professional conferences, and author books and book chapters that further the knowledge base of their respective areas. Faculty members within the department are successful grant writers and currently direct or co-direct muliple externally-funded projects. Finally, faculty members in the department are committed to serve the community in a variety of ways. In addition to being active in department, college and university service, faculty members regularly serve on the Board of Directors and Advisory Boards for national, state, regional, and local organizations. Faculty members serve as reviewers and editors for peer-reviewed journals, review federal grant proposals, and engage in other scholarly service.
