An 80,000 word thesis would take 9 hours to present.
THEIR time limit . . . 3 minutes! *
Welcome to The University of Toledo's 3MT® (Three Minute Thesis) Competition! This page is where you will find everything you
need to know about 3MT® at UT - from the rules and regulations to the prep workshops
to the final rounds! This is a work in progress, and will continue to be updated as
we add events and resources.
The Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is an exercise that develops academic, presentation, and research communication skills and supports the development of research students' capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes in a language appropriate to an intelligent but non-specialist audience.
The first 3MT® competition was held at UQ in 2009 with just 150 Research Higher Degree
students competing. Fast forward to 2019, and 3MT® competitions are now held in over
600 universities and institutions across 63 countries worldwide! The University of
Toledo is proud to join their ranks and show off the amazing research conducted by
our scholars, and we anticipate continued participation long into the future.
* The Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is an academic competition developed by The University of Queensland (UQ), Australia for research students.
