Mastering Labor Law

Joseph E. Slater, the Eugene N. Balk Professor of Law and Values, has recently published a new book titled “Mastering Labor Law” with co-authors, Paul M. Secunda, Anne Marie Lofaso, and Jeffrey M. Hirsch.

The book begins with an introduction to private and public sector labor law. It then turns to United States labor history and procedure, organization, and jurisdiction issues under the National Labor Relations Act. The book then addresses the organizational and collective bargaining processes, before covering forms of protected activity. It closes by considering other topics such as labor arbitration, the union security clause, labor preemption, and the antitrust doctrine.

Professor Slater has been a faculty member since 1999, and is a graduate of Georgetown University (PhD), the University of Michigan Law School (J.D.), and Oberlin College (B.A.). He is a member of the Labor Law Group and the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. Before joining the faculty, he practiced in Washington, D.C. for over a decade.

“Mastering Labor Law” is part of the Carolina Academic Press Mastering Series.
