College of Law faculty well represented at law school association conference

July 24, 2015

College of Law faculty members will give a total of eight presentations at the Southeastern Association of Law Schools (SEALS) annual meeting in Florida on July 27 - August 2.

Toledo Law is not a SEALS member school, and faculty from non-member schools may only participate by invitation. Among non-member schools, College of Law faculty will give the highest number of presentations, tied at eight with the faculty of the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.

Representing the College’s junior faculty at the SEALS meeting: Professor Kara Bruce will present at a workshop on contract law; Professor Greg Gilchrist, at a workshop on criminal law and criminal procedure; and Professor Evan Zoldan will present at a workshop on constitutional law. Senior Toledo Law faculty members are also scheduled to present: Professor Nicole Porter will present at three workshops on labor and employment law and Associate Dean Geoffrey Rapp will present at two workshops on sports law.

According to new College of Law Dean Ben Barros, “SEALS has become an increasingly important place to be seen among law scholars from across the country. Our representation is yet another sign of the outstanding high-impact scholarship generated by the Toledo Law faculty.”

This is the 13th annual SEALS meeting, which serves as a forum for legal scholars from around the world to discuss “cutting-edge topics that will prove important for both scholarly works and teaching covering the breadth of legal issues,” according to the association’s web site.
