Ohio Sixth District Court of Appeals to hold oral argument at College of Law

The Ohio Sixth District Court of Appeals will hold oral argument at The University of Toledo College of Law on Wednesday, March 23, beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the McQuade Law Auditorium. The sessions are open to the public.

Judges Thomas Osowik, James Jensen, and Mark Pietrykowski will preside over argument in four cases on the court’s docket. Arguments set for the session include appeals from rape and murder convictions.  Other cases on the docket ask the court to decide whether a trial court should have granted class certification in a class-action lawsuit and whether a seller can increase the price of goods or services to cover the cost of the commercial activity tax.

"This opportunity to observe judges and lawyers in a real court session is a valuable adjunct to our advocacy curriculum,” said Terrell Allen, Toledo Law legal writing professor and director of its legal research, writing, and appellate advocacy program. “We appreciate the court's willingness to provide this useful experience and instruction for our students."

The first session begins at 9:00 a.m., and the second session starts at 10:15 a.m. After adjourning, the court will host a question and answer session with the audience.
