Role of Technology in professional Advice

The development of new technology has a disruptive impact on the human experience that requires individuals to adapt and reimagine the ways in which they interact with the world. The disruptive impact of technology is felt profoundly in the practice of law because law touches all aspects of life. Lawyers must understand and embrace technological advancements to remain competent in their work and to remain competitive among their peers. The intersection of technology and professional advice creates many novel and cutting-edge issues.

The University of Toledo Law Review’s 2018 Symposium will explore how recent technological innovations have impacted the dispensing of professional advice. Panel topics will include:

  • Artificial Intelligence and Professional Advice
  • The Intersection of Legal Ethics and Technology  
  • Robo-Advisors and Investment Advice
  • The Evolving World of Electronic Discovery

Open to the public.

The symposium has been approved by the Supreme Court of Ohio Commission on Continuing Legal Education for 5.0 total CLE hours, which includes 1.25 professional conduct hours. The event is free unless you intend to seek CLE credit and/or would like a box lunch. For CLE credit and/or box lunch, registration is required by October 11 with prices indicated below:

  • Government Registration: $75
  • UT Alumni '16-'18 Grads Registration: $75
  • Box Lunch Only: $10

McQuade Law Auditorium is within the Law Center, which is located at 1825 West Rocket Drive (immediately inside the UT West Entrance off Secor Road and south of Bancroft Street). Free parking is available in Parking Area 12 (lot adjacent to the law school) and Parking Area 25 (lot off Secor Road, next to the Gateway and behind Rocket Hall) with no ticketing except for metered, reserved or handicap spaces.
