The Gendron Wheel Company was founded in Toledo in 1872 by Peter Gendron. The company produced a wheel with wire spokes that was used in baby carriages, bicycles, pedal cars, and wheelchairs. The wheelchairs, while heavy and cumbersome by today’s standards, greatly improved the mobility of the disabled around the world. The company moved to Perrysburg in 1941, to Archbold in 1959, and is currently headquartered in Bryan, Ohio.
