Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Program


Program runs:
May 24-July 30, 2021

Students are partnered with faculty and graduate student mentors to conduct cutting-edge research on important land-lake environmental challenges.

Application deadline: 
February 28, 2021

Applicants will be notified of their status by March 31.


Program features:

  • Stipend ($5,750), along with housing, transportation and food allowance

  • Opportunities in: Biology, Environmental Sciences, Hydrology, Geography and GIS
  • Study and help combat challenges:
    • Harmful algal blooms and water quality
    • Invasive species
    • Natural communities and habitats
    • Land use and nutrients
  • Use and apply top technology
  • Rising college juniors and seniors preferred, rising sophomores will be considered
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident
  • This program will likely run in a virtual or semi-virtual fashion due to COVID-19 restrictions, specifics of research project locations will be worked out on a case by case basis
