The University of Toledo College of Nursing and ProMedica are launching a local branch of Nursing Now: Nursing Now Northwest Ohio. 

Nursing Now is a global campaign to improve health globally by raising the status and profile of nursing.

Nursing Now works to empower nurses to take their place at the heart of tackling 21st century health challenges. By influencing policy at global and national levels, Nursing Now aims to increase investment in nursing and midwifery; improve global and national policies on nursing and midwifery; strengthen nurse leadership and influence at all levels; develop further evidence around the impact of nursing and midwifery on health and society, and encourage the sharing of effective practice across the world.

Nursing Now USA Priorities

  1. Promoting Innovation – Nurses are at the forefront of innovations in research, teaching, and care delivery that have a positive impact on the public.
  2. Developing Policy – Nurses play a vital role in influencing and creating public policy that promotes and protects the health of all and advocates for conditions that support safe and healthy communities.
  3. Expanding Influence as Leaders in Care Delivery – Nurses are fully engaged as leaders locally and globally in the delivery of care by constantly and consistently seeking improvements in care.

Nursing Now Northwest Ohio

Nursing Now of Northwest Ohio aims to increase appreciation for nurses, recognize the accomplishments of local nurses and educate nurses on how they can work with legislators to influence policies and join boards. Our goals include:

  1. Grow public understanding and support for the vital role nurses have in achieving health equity and quality care for all.
  2. Use innovative strategies to improve the education, practice and advancement of nurses.
  3. Develop healthcare related policies that are led by nurses and informed by evidenced-based research and practice.
  4. Ensure nurses are working at the top of their scope of practice and provide professional advancement opportunities for nurses at all levels.
  5. Highlight and celebrate the contributions of nurses to the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities.

Here at the University of Toledo College of Nursing, our faculty, staff, students and alumni are improving the human condition in the region and the world. Want to support our efforts? Consider giving to our scholarship fund or supporting the Marilynne Wood Community Engagement Fund, which will be used to support faculty and student projects that are aimed at collaborating with the community to improve health and well-being, particularly of children and families.
