Program Overview
UToledo communication majors become educated citizens who understand and practice effective communication. They go on to careers in public relations, nonprofit organizations, government, business or any field that requires solid communication skills. Undergraduates in the program study communication skills that allow them to adapt to an evolving, technology-driven job market.

Learn through experience. UToledo communication majors have many opportunities to practice professional communication skills in real-world settings. They also can work in a variety of student media right on campus.
Internships. Faculty members in the Department of Communication have ties to local communication companies and media outlets. The department often assists undergraduates in finding internships, either on or off campus.
Connect with UToledo alumni and industry experts. Join a student chapter of one of UToledo’s media and communication organizations, such as the Public Relations Student Society of America or the UToledo National Communication Association’s Lambda Pi Eta honors society. The groups regularly hold events and activities on campus.
