Online Materials Science and Engineering Graduate Certificate

UToledo offers a graduate certificate in Materials Science and Engineering.  Material science is an interdisciplinary area of study and research that supports many engineering disciplines, as well as chemistry and physics. New technologies for manufacturing, as well as greening of chemistry and engineering, are driving development of new material formulations and production methods. The graduate certificate in material science and engineering is designed to support engineers and physical scientists who are interested in materials development, performance and applications.

The University of Toledo is a 4 year, public, regionally accredited university that has been serving students since 1872. As a student, you will enjoy: direct contact with your advisors and interactive faculty to help you achieve your goals. UToledo also has many resources that a large institution offers such as; eTutoring, IT Help Desk, and eLibrary.

The certificate program requires 12 credit hours. Mini-projects integrated into the courses provide hands-on experience on material applications. You will develop and conduct experiments, analyze and interpret data, and make decisions for material selection and development for advanced technologies such as nanotechnology, micro-machines and additive manufacturing. You may select any four courses from the list below to complete the certificate.

Engineering Course list (each course is 3 credit hours)

MIME 5350 Advanced Ceramics
MIME 5370 Advanced Materials for Automotive Structures
MIME 5380 Engineering Polymers and Rubbers
