Rocket Fire is The University of Toledo’s second year experience.

SPARKS in residence program

As they enter their second year of college, students are faced with greater decision-making with lasting impact on their future and benefit from self-authorship, the opportunity to establish their own set of personal values and the challenge ensuring their life choices set them on a course for personal and professional success.

Students who reside more than 25 miles from The University of Toledo are required to live on campus during their first and second years of study.  Rocket Fire is targeted toward second-year students during to support their academic success, help them select an academic major and provide career direction, and engage them in the University and Toledo communities.

As a result of participating in Rocket Fire programs, student will:

  • Engage in a process of self-discovery that encourages critical thinking skills, personal responsibility and positive interpersonal relationships.
  • Commit in academic success through study groups, academic recovery groups and collaboration with campus offices to connect with helpful resources.
  • Establish a career direction with focused academic and career goals supported by Career Services, Education Abroad and other experiential learning opportunities.
  • Develop a true social network and sense of community by participating with student organizations and activities, both on campus and throughout the Toledo community, to establish a connection to peers and encourage a positive sense of health and well-being.
