Haraz N. Ghanbari is the Director of Military and Veteran Affairs and is responsible for developing and employing strategies toward the successful transition of military and veteran students from military service to the classroom. Haraz’s main responsibilities include managing day-to-day operations of the Military Service Center and Student Veteran Lounge, and ensuring University compliance with state and federal regulations related to military and veteran students. He also is responsible for collaborating across the University and with the Toledo community in order to position The University of Toledo as a military friendly campus.

Haraz has worked for The University of Toledo for four years. He was previously the Military and Media Liaison until he was promoted to his current position in 2015. He serves as UToledo’s  liaison with the Department of Veteran Affairs. Prior to joining The University of Toledo, Haraz was a staff photojournalist for The Associated Press based in Washington, D.C. He travelled both nationally and internationally for his assignments as a member of the White House and Pentagon press corps.

Haraz serves on the Safety Committee of the Cedar Creek Church and the Erie Shores Council Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America. He is a member of the Military Officers Association of America, the American Legion, and the National Eagle Scout Association. Haraz currently serves as a lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserve.
