GR&T Photo Galleries

The Carlson Library DX-related collections also include audio and visual components. We believe that online photo exhibits related to GR&T peoples have extraordinary educational value. Photo images both raise and answer questions. Best of all, photo exhibits generate casual and formal conversations across disciplines, and stimulate an active information frontier especially between the humanities and social sciences. These stimulating conversations often result in the need for further reading of DX-related books in our lending library. We strongly believe that photographs should be made easily accessible for viewing online to the visitors to our website rather than remain underutilized as hardcopy in restricted archives. The following Carlson Library GR&T photo exhibits are now online. We invite our viewers to donate their own photo exhibits for future sharing through our educational website. We also remind visitors that online photo-sharing is the heart and soul of GR&T blogs, selected examples of which can be accessed on this website through our "GR&T Blog" page.

Exhibit One. "Celebrations and Portraits" by Lyn Smith, professional photographer. Featuring Gypsy-American life in Los Angeles , California , circa 1973-1990, together with historical photos dating back to immigrant generations. Ms. Smith has generously donated this photo exhibit for on-line educational purposes to the University of Toledo Carlson Library.

Exhibit Two. "Mystery Caravan" This provocative, often irreverent, composite photo exhibit on GR&T topics was created by "Stevie" and displayed originally on the "AllGypsies" Yahoo Group website. The photos were compiled over a period of several years in relation to various conversations between members of the site. "Stevie" has now donated the exhibit for educational purposes to the University of Toledo Carlson Library.

Exhibit Three. "Another Caravan". "Stevie" has donated a new set of pictures to post.
