TOY WAGON EXHIBIT

Toy Wagon by Gendron Wheel Co.

The Gendron company was founded by Peter (Pierre) Gendron in 1877.  Realizing that the wooden spokes used on wagons of the time were heavy and costly to produce, in 1872, he created a lightweight, wire-spoke wheel.  From this beginning, the Gendron company began producing children’s and baby carriages in addition to such items as bicycles, pedal cars, and wheelchairs.  This toy wagon is an example of the many products Gendron produced when it was known primarily for its children’s toys.
