What to do in the event of a BOMB THREAT

NOTE: Health Science Campus employees should refer to the Code Black, Bomb Threats, policy # EP-08-004, for protocols unique to the patient care setting and the Health Science Campus Bomb Threat Checklist.

If you receive a threatening call:

Keep the caller on the line as long as possible. Ask the following questions:

    • What does the bomb look like?
    • When is it going to go off?
    • Does it react with water?
    • Why are you doing this?

As soon as the caller hangs up, call UT Police at x-2600, (or you can dial x-77 on the Health Science Campus).

    Notify your supervisor.

Meet with and assist University Police personnel.

    Evacuate building, as directed.

Do not re-enter building until the "all clear" has been given by UT Police or Safety and Health personnel.
