Transition: EI to PreK and PreK to KGarten
There are two major transition times during the early childhood years. They include
the transition from Early Intervention (Part C) to pre-K programs (Part b) and transition
from pre-k programs (Part B) services to kindergarten. Early childhood teachers may
be asked to assist with the implementation of transition plans during these two times.
The websites below provide information related to these transitions and provide strategies
for participation in these transitions.

provides an overview of strategies to help children and families as children transition
between programs.

PACER Center is a parent training and information center for families of children
and youth with all disabilities from birth through 21 years old. Many of the resources

The National Early Childhood Transition Center
The National Early Childhood Transition Center's (NECTE) mission is to examine factors
that promote successful transitions between infant/toddler programs, preschool programs,
and public school programs for young children with disabilities and their families.
The NECTE website provides many resources related to transition including a searchable
database and web-based toolkit to assist in identification of specific practices and
