Admission goal: Attract and admit high-quality applicants with healthcare experience and high GPA.
Indicators:
- Average GPA of entering classes will be 3.0 or better.
- Entering students will have at least one shadowing experience in medical or forensic
autopsy services, or have work experience in surgical/autopsy pathology.
Results:
_ Average GPA for 2017 class is 3.3/4.0
_ Students have at least one work and shadowing experience in autopsy and/or surgical
pathology.
ASCP exam scores goal: Graduates of the Assistant in Pathology program will demonstrate mastery of the
knowledge needed for an entry-level pathologists’ assistants.
Indicators:
- UT Assistant in Pathology graduates will pass the ASCP exam on the first attempt
at or higher rate than the national average.
- UT Assistant in Pathology scores will be equal to or greater than 90% of the national
average.
Results:
- 100% of graduates passed ASCP exam on the first attempt.
Program retention goal: At least 90% of each entering class will complete the program and graduate on-time.
Indicator:
- On-time graduation rate will equal or exceed 90%.

- Responses from the Annual Alumni Survey for the 2015-2017 graduating years will
indicate that at least75% of program graduates secured employment as a pathologists’
assistant or closely related field within the first year of graduation.
Results:
- Within 6 months of graduation, 100% of graduates who graduated from the classes
of 2015 - 2017 had secured employment as a Pathologists’ Assistants or related field
positions within the first year after graduation.
