BLS/ACLS Combo - Organ Procurement Class

Location: Unless otherwise designated, the location will be in the Lloyd Jacobs Interprofessional Immersive Simulation Center on the UT Health Science Campus (2920 Transverse Dr, Toledo Ohio)
This 1 1/2 day format is designed for students of the UT Organ Procurement Program. The first half day consists of videos and lecture presentation of ACLS material and EKG review. The second day is a hands-on skill day in which all BLS and ACLS skill requirements are evaluated and the ACLS written exam is completed. The course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate and manage the first minutes of an adult cardiac-related event.
Students of the UT Organ Procurement program and any other students approved by Life Support Administration.
For the BLS component, participants must complete the Heartcode BLS online course and submit the certificate of completion at the time of class check-in. For the ACLS component, participants must complete the ACLS Precourse Assessment and Precourse Work course, located at elearning.heart.org. The printed certificate of completion from this course must be submitted when arriving for the skill session.
Must successfully demonstrate all required BLS skills, management of a Respiratory arrest, demonstrate knowledge and team leadership skills when managing a scenario involving any of the following: cardiac arrest, post arrest, bradycardia with a pulse, tachycardia with a pulse, Acute coronary syndrome. The participant must also obtain a minimum of 84% on the written ACLS posttest.
No materials are needed for the BLS component, but participants must complete the Heartcode BLS course prior to attending. The participant must have the most current ACLS textbook (2025 Guidelines).
