MissionThe mission of the Coalition for Advancing Teaching and Learning in STEMM Education (CATALyST) is to impact policy and improve practice in the local, state, and national arenas in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, & Medical (STEMM) Education.
Vision
CATALyST will initiate, grow, and sustain a strong and sustained collaborative partnership between the University of Toledo, K-12 Educators, K-12 Administrators, and Business/Community Stakeholders in order to realize systemic improvement in the educational system. Realizing increased economic growth and enhanced quality of life requires that there must be a strong, effective, educational system in place. Anticipated outcomes of implementation of the CATALyST Model of Educational Excellence (Johnson & Jacobs, 2007) include: improved and enhanced school districts, community engagement in education, increased workforce quality and quantity, a new knowledge-based economy, attraction of new business to the area, and economic vitality. We envision metropolitan communities that are transformed into exemplary national models of revitalization and reinvention -- meeting the changing needs of our society.
