Goals Statement For Doctor Of Education In Educational Administration And Supervision
Part of the application for study in the degree program in the Department of Educational Foundations and Leadership includes a personal statement by the applicant. It is suggested that the applicant by-pass the short space provided on the application and address the following issues at greater length in addition to other items pertinent to the application process. While no specific order is suggested, all items should be addressed by the applicant. For the doctoral degree emphasis should be placed on administrative activities that point to the individual’s leadership capability.
1. Given your background, why are you seeking a doctoral degree in Administration and Supervision?
2. What professional goals are you pursuing, how will a doctoral degree assist you in achieving these goals, and why is a doctoral degree necessary to attain these goals?
3. Doctoral study in Administration and Supervision is seen as a capstone of the degree process, and a starting point for future development. The department faculties seek to encourage those who are likely to attain positions with K-12 administration where they can make a difference in the education of students. In your statement, please indicate why you should be considered such a person, one who will likely improve education.
4. Beyond the areas covered in item #3 above, what special skills, knowledge’s, and experiences in administration do you bring with you to serve as a foundation for you doctoral studies?
