Doctorate in Educational Administration and Supervision
Ed.D. in EDAS: School District Leadership
Minimum 61 Semester Credit Hours
The Ed.D. program in School District Leadership is offered as an off campus, cohort experience. The plan of study includes educational foundations courses, a research core, EDAS licensure core, EDAS doctoral core, and dissertation credits. Approximately 22 students are selected for each new cohort. Previous cohort sites have included Ottawa Hills and Perrysburg, Ohio, and Monroe, Michigan. A new doctoral cohort is admitted every other academic year. The next doctoral cohort is being planned to begin in Fall 2009 in the Toledo Metropolitan area. Admissions Requirements for Ed.D in EDAS:
1. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution with an overall grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.7 on a 4.0 scale in all undergraduate work.
2. A master’s degree from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
3. Admission by the Graduate School.
4. Submission to EDAS department of a portfolio containing items described in 5 – 12.
5. Completed application for admission to the Graduate School.
6. A professional resume or CV.
7. Copy of transcripts from undergraduate and graduate study and degree programs.
8. Copy of educational certificates or licenses.
9. Evidence of at least two years of successful teaching or administrative experience or its equivalency.
10. Four written recommendations concerning the prospective graduate student’s potential for success in a graduate program, and in particular, his/her potential for success as an educational administrator. Recommendations must come from faculty members, school administrators, employers or others knowledgeable about the applicant’s ability and potential as both a scholar and professional educator.
11. An autobiographical statement and a statement of purpose which includes description of previous study and educational experiences, professional accomplishments, leadership experiences, and professional goals including desire to be admitted to the EDAS doctoral program.
12. A sample of the candidate’s scholarly writing (e.g., master’s thesis, written research project from master’s course, etc.)
13. A proctored writing sample/assessment conducted on campus.
14. After faculty screening of portfolio and writing sample, an interview of selected candidates by the EDAS faculty.
