Program Requirements for Ed.D. in EDAS
Continuous Enrollment:
Students must be continually enrolled in the program. Students who do not enroll in at least one course for an academic year will need to reapply for admission to The Graduate School.
Registration for Classes:
Students must register for all courses during the official university enrollment period in order to avoid late fees.
Eligibility for Financial Aid:
Students must be enrolled in six credit hours per semester, in order to be eligible for financial aid.
Residency:
Doctoral students in the College of Education may meet the residency requirement by enrolling in 9 semester hours for two consecutive semesters (Fall and Spring) or by enrolling in 9 semester hours for two consecutive summers.
Retention Requirements:
Graduate students in the EDAS program are required to maintain: a) a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for all courses completed; and b) an average of 3.0 for EDAS courses completed.
Minimum Grade Requirements:
A grade of less than C (2.0) in any graduate course is unsatisfactory and will not satisfy the academic requirements in a graduate program of study.
Exit Requirements:
Successful completion of the Ed.D. degree in EDAS requires:
1. Completion of a minimum of 61 semester hours of post-graduate coursework within an approved plan of study (see attachment 1) that includes:
• 6 semester hours of college core requirements in educational foundations (may be substituted with elective courses if this requirement has been previously met)
• 12 semester hours of research methodology and design
• 15 semester hours of EDAS licensure core courses
• 18 semester hours of EDAS doctoral core courses
• 10 semester hours of dissertation credit
2. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and an average GPA of 3.0 or higher in EDAS core courses
3. Meeting college residency requirement (9 semester hours during two consecutive terms or two consecutive summer sessions)
4. Successful completion of both written and oral doctoral examinations
5. Successful oral defense of dissertation proposal and final dissertation
6. Completion of all degree requirements within a seven year period.
