Dr. Snejana Slantcheva-Durst

Professor, Higher Education

Dr. Snejana Slantcheva-Durst is a Professor in the Department of Educational Studies of the Judith College of Education, the University of Toledo. She holds doctoral degrees from the University of Massachusetts Amherst (in Higher Education Policy and Administration) and the University of Toledo (in History). Dr. Durst’s work experience includes  positions as a university administrator, director of a policy research center, and teacher. She has been an Open Society Institute-Budapest Fellow, a Rockefeller Foundation Fellow, a Fulbright New Century Scholars Finalist, and a European Union Erasmus Plus Scholar. Dr. Durst has also served as a board member of ASHE: Association for the Study of Higher Education and a chair of ASHE’s CIHE: Center for International Higher Education, and is a current Collaborating Scholar of PROPHE: Program for Research on Private Higher Education, and a member of the editorial board of two academic journals. Dr. Durst teaches courses in governance and administration of higher education, federal and state policy, history of higher education, and higher education law.
