Woodrow Wilson Ohio Teaching Fellowship at The University of Toledo awards $30,000
stipend to those who qualify and are accepted as a Woodrow Wilson Fellow.
The Woodrow Wilson Ohio Teaching Fellowship seeks to attract talented, committed individuals
with backgrounds in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics)
to transition into teaching careers in Ohio's high-need secondary schools. Those students receiving the Woodrow Wilson Fellowship will be accepted into the Accelerated
Licensure And Master's Program (LAMP) starting in August, providing the candidate
has a received a passing score on the appropriate content exam as specified by the
Ohio Department of Education in the content area for which they are seeking licensure.

What does the WW Ohio Teaching Fellowship Include?
$30,000 stipend in exchange for teaching in a low-income rural or urban school for
three years.
- A specially designed, one-year, cutting-edge master's degree program.
- WW Fellows will study a curriculum that is rooted in subject matter, but that also covers adolescent development and learning, working with parents and communities, and classroom management.
- Preparation in a high-need high school throughout the one-year program.
- Support and mentoring throughout the three-year teaching commitment.
- Lifelong membership in a national Woodrow Wilson network of Fellows and intellectual leaders.
Who can apply for the Fellowship?
Eligible applicants include current undergraduates, recent college graduates, midcareer
professionals, and retirees who have majored in, or had careers in, the STEM fields
of mathematics, chemistry, physics, life science, and earth and space science.
What qualifications are required of its applicants?
- A commitment to the program and its goals.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent resident.
- A bachelor's degree- attained or expected by June 30, 2013 – from an accredited US college or university.
- A major in and/or a strong professional background in mathematics, chemistry, physics, and/or earth and space science.
- A cumulative undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale.
What is the cost for the program at the University of Toledo?
- If you are considered a resident of Ohio (which includes several counties in Michigan) the cost for the program would be $18,872.76, which includes tuition and fees.* For those that are chosen as Woodrow Wilson Fellows, $12,500 of the tuition will be waived as in-kind funding.
- Nonresident’s cost would be $31,665.36, which includes tuition and fees.* For those that are chosen as Woodrow Wilson Fellows, $12,500 of the tuition will be waived as in-kind funding.
- * The above costs do not include health insurance or legal fees, which can be optional. Costs are for 2013/2014 only. Increases are expected next year *
