Health Careers Education and Industrial Engineering Systems License
The Bachelor of Career and Technical Education Degree is designed to prepare students for rewarding careers as teachers in a variety of employment settings, such as secondary schools, community and technical colleges and business and industry. Individuals with five years of recent occupational experience in a specific teaching area (or combination of occupational experience and technical college credit) may be eligible for the initial teaching license.
Two-Plus-Two
Individuals completing community or technical college degrees may transfer a significant number of semester hours of course work (provided grades are C or better) for the undergraduate program. The student must have completed selected courses for the University core curriculum and technical courses in the desired teaching area to maximize the number of transfers. Otherwise, course work is transferred to the University on a course-for-course basis.
The Two-Plus-Two Program consists of three phases and is designed to prepare students to teach in secondary career and technical education, technical colleges, or business and industrial settings. The first two years (phase one) are spent completing the associate degree technology program, while the second two years (phase two) are spent completing teacher education course work required for the Bachelor’s of Career and Technical Education degree. Phase three is the accumulation of two years of employment in the occupational field the student desires to teach.
Master’s in Career and Technical Education
The Master’s Degree Program is designed for students interested in extending their proficiency in teaching, adding endorsements to their licenses, or pursuing an administrative license as a Vocational Director. It is the belief of the faculty in this academic area that the responsibility for planning and completing the program rests primarily with the graduate student. However, an advisor from the program faculty will be available to assist with the planning process.
