General Studies

general studiesThe General Studies degree allows you to complete the General Education requirements that all students must take while determining the major that is the best fit for you. The program is designed for students interested in obtaining a degree in order to further his or her career or as a stepping stone towards a bachelor's degree.

Students are able to pick a concentration related to an area that meets their specific needs through a program designed specifically for the student. Students create an individualized major by combining courses from a single department with various related courses from several different departments.

Admission into the General Studies Degree:
To be admitted to the general studies program, you must have:

  • A minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.0
  • If the student is coming direct from high school, a minimum 15 ACT score

Earning an Associates Degree in General Studies:
To earn an Associates degree in general studies, you must:

  • Complete 36 semester-hours of credit that is aligned with the Ohio Transfer Module
  • Complete an additional 24 semester-hours in 1000-2000 level classes chosen by the student to support transfer to a Baccalaureate Degree program or fulfill personal interests.

The General Studies Degree also has an option to earn your degree 100% online, depending on your program of focus.

With a General Studies Degree:
Your Associate Degree in general studies will allow you to fold it into any bachelor's degree program. You can fulfill common core requirements while working towards a degree. This program also has an online option.
