Applied Social Research Certificate
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at The University of Toledo offers graduate students the opportunity to earn an Applied Social Research Certificate, which is an interdisciplinary, 15-hour program designed to provide students with the opportunity to acquire practical and communicative research tools. Students will learn how to use social theories and methodological approaches to address community, workplace, and societal concerns. They will develop skills useful for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating programs, policies, and interventions. These abilities can be useful in a variety of workplaces, including public and private social service agencies. The nine hours of electives allow students to tailor the certificate to their interests.
Admission Requirements
Applicants who have earned at least nine hours of graduate credit are required to have a graduate GPA of 3.0 or higher. Those who have not earned at least nine hours of graduate credit are required to have a baccalaureate degree. GRE scores are not required. Students do not need be admitted into the Master of Arts in Sociology program to pursue the certificate.
Certificate Course Requirements
Students will be required to complete SOC 6270 Advanced Social Research Methods and SOC 6290 Advanced Social Research Statistics. Student will need to earn at least nine credit hours from the following electives:
