Accounting Careers
Career Paths
The three primary career tracks available to accounting majors are public, private and governmental accounting. Students who wish to practice public accounting can do so with large international firms or with regional or local accounting firms. The same is true for students electing a career path in private industry. Some students will select multinational corporate organizations while others prefer a smaller local manufacturing or service company. In addition, there are numerous opportunities in state, local and federal governmental agencies. Recent surveys have shown that students with accounting degrees have the highest average entry-level salaries of any area within the College of Business Administration. Annual entry level salaries are approximately $45,000-$50,000.
