  • Students can attend on their own or as part of a group from their high school or organization
  • Registered participants will hear from us again 1 week before the event with a reminder

Nothing to Prepare in Advance for Most Students

  • Students who are only doing Sales Connection (fall) or UTISC (spring) do not have to prepare anything.  In the fall, we will give them an assignment schedule of development blocks to go to and where to go for the coaching that has the college student peer leads.  They pick their own company table for the open networking lunch.  In the spring because UTISC has so many concurrent activities going on, we have recommended schedules for the students so they can hit all the interaction elements, but they can also choose their own adventure on where they want to explore.
  • The only students who would need to prepare in advance would be the 5 students that get selected to compete in the high school room at the fall Internal Sales Competition (ISC) that happens immediately after Sales Connection.  Students can see the buyer profile, role play details, sample role plays, and more on the ISC website.  Students apply to compete during registration, and we reach out to all those students no later than October 2 to let them know either way if they have been selected to compete in the high school room.

Parking and Check-in

  • Park in Lot 1N as it does not require you to register a guest parking pass during Sales Connection with Internal Sales Competition (ISC) and the UToledo Invitational Sales Competition (UTISC). Campus Map.
  • Check-in in the lobby of Savage Business Complex (SB) to get your name badge and event packet and then start your day.  Sales Connection with ISC is in Savage Business Complex, and UTISC is in three buildings.  With UTISC, you can go to any of the three buildings after you check-in in SB.

What to Wear and Etiquette While Observing and Interacting

You are welcome to interact with other guests if you want to learn more about anything you are observing and/or to share your own experiences and insights.  The college students, faculty, and corporate partners are all gathered together to help shape the students and make connections.

Attire

  • Casual in jeans and a t-shirt if you prefer.  School or club uniforms are also welcome.  Our student workers will be in jeans and a navy/ISC or gold/UTISC UToledo ESSPS t-shirt, college student participants will be in suits, and business professionals will be in suits or business casual (ie: polo or sweater with nice pants) based on their company culture.

Development Blocks

  • Arrive to the room before or at the start of the block
  • Remain in the room for the entire 1 hour block

Open Networking Lunch

  • Sit at whatever company table you prefer.  There are no assigned seats for students.  You do not need to wait for a conversation to end to sit down and join the group.
  • There are 3 types of conversation starters you can choose from if you want tips on what to ask people

Coaching Session

  • Ask college students questions and get pro tips on campus life, classes, student organizations, career search, etc

Role Play Judging

  • If you are selected as one of the high school competitors, you will not be allowed in any of the judging rooms
  • Enter and exit the room in-between role plays so judges can remain focused.  Our communication specialist student workers will be seated across from the windows so students can see them, and they will smile and motion to welcome students into the room when there is a break in-between role plays.
  • The only time we ask that students refrain from interacting is during the active portions of role play judging so that the judges can remain focused on watching the role plays, and we can keep moving to the next competitor to keep the event on schedule.  Judges typically love to chat in-between judging competitors.

Career Fair

  • Company swag is for the social media competition.  Please don't take any unless the company offers; some companies have limited swag due to budgets.
  • If you do engage in a conversation, please be mindful of time if you notice a line start to form around you of other students wanting to talk with the company.
