The mission of the Safety and Health Department is to develop, implement and monitor programs of environmental and occupational safety and health as necessary to protect the health and safety of faculty, staff, students and campus visitors, and to provide compliance with applicable regulations.

The Safety and Health Department is located in Mulford Library, Room 011 on Health Science Campus and in Transportation Center, Rooms 1200 A-D on Main Campus.

UT Recycling News
Recycling paper causes 35% less water pollution and 74% less air pollution according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
Recycling 1 ton of paper does the following:
Saves:
- 17 trees
- 7,000 gallons of water
- 100 gallons of oil
- 4,000+ Kilowatt Hours of Power
- 3 cubic yards of space in the landfill
During the first five weeks of 2010, Lott and UT recycled 53 tons of paper back into production processes including office paper, newspaper, phone books, magazines, game programs, and text and library books.
UT students and staff recycled enough paper products to save:
- 900 trees
- 371,000 gallons of water
- 5,300 gallons of oil
- 212,000 Kilowatt Hours of Power
- 159 cubic yards of landfill
That is an impact UT Recycle Mania and the entire program should be very proud of!
