    WHAT'S NEW?

    UT Recycling News

Recycling paper causes 35% less water pollution and 74% less air pollution according to the Environmental Protection Agency.

Recycling 1 ton of paper does the following:

    Saves:

    - 17 trees

    - 7,000 gallons of water

    - 100 gallons of oil

    - 4,000+ Kilowatt Hours of Power

    - 3 cubic yards of space in the landfill

During the first five weeks of 2010, Lott and UT recycled 53 tons of paper back into production processes including office paper, newspaper, phone books, magazines, game programs, and text and library books.

UT students and staff recycled enough paper products to save:

    - 900 trees

    - 371,000 gallons of water

    - 5,300 gallons of oil

    - 212,000 Kilowatt Hours of Power

    - 159 cubic yards of landfill

That is an impact UT Recycle Mania and the entire program should be very proud of!
