SERVICES: 3D Modeling • BACK TO SERVICES •
3D modeling is the process of creating a 3D representation of a surface or object
in simulated 3D space.
There are two main types of files which define the shape and surface of a digital
3D model:
• Computer-Aided Design (CAD) models - Digital model that can be thought of like a 'set of steps' for creating the object.
These models are easy to adjust throughout the design process without recreating the
entirely new file.
• 3D Mesh models - Digital model that represents how the object’s surface will look and is named for
its appearance which resembles a mesh wrapped around an object.

Our 3D modeling service is available to help you create or edit existing models to
achieve your desired print result. We can assist you in all aspects of model creation
from the conceptual stage, through 2D plan drawing, all the way to a finished model.
Acceptable file formats for 3D print use
2D Reference Drawings/Concept Sketches: jpg, bmp, png, dxf, dwg, pdf, tiff, as well
as paper drawn images
3D CAD or Mesh Models: fbx, 3ds, obj, stl, vrml, prt (and many others).
Please contact us if you have specific requests or questions about the model creation process or acceptable
file types.
