Rebecca Schneider is a professor of science and teacher education and Acting Dean in the Judith Herb College of Education. Dr. Schneider is a Judith Daso-Herb Endowed Co-Chair in School-University Partnerships in Teacher Education.
As a curriculum designer and teacher educator, her work is grounded in ideas about pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) and learning progressions for science teachers. She recently participated in the second international summit on science teacher PCK. Current projects include conceptualizing and examining PCK from a teacher educator's perspective and within a learning progression framework; designing and investigating programs for teacher learning; and studying the interplay of community building and learning progress for teacher educators engaged in program design.
Dr. Schneider is one of the lead designers of the Licensure and Master's Program (LAMP) selected for the Outstanding Field Experience Program Award (2014) by The Ohio Association of Teacher Educators' award for exemplary field experience programs that significantly contribute to the professional development of pre-service teachers. Dr. Schneider was named the Outstanding Science Teacher Educator of the Year for 2012 by the Association for Science Teacher Education. Her work is published in Review of Educational Research, Journal of Science Teacher Education, Journal of Research in Science Teaching, Journal of Technology in Teacher Education, Computers in Mathematics and Science Education, and School Science and Mathematics Journal.
